British Physics Olympiad
The competitions run by the British physics olympiad (BPhO) committee offer students a chance to grapple with really interesting and open-ended physics questions. All of our upper sixth physics students recently took part in the A2 challenge, which is a competition that tests skills and knowledge from the A-level syllabus, althugh the questions are of a different and more challenging nature, often using unfamiliar situations, or ideas from different areas of physics combined in one question.

Well done to all the students who took part, who have each received a participation certificate to recognize their efforts: Kayleigh Bransby (13HAs), Hannah Crump (13HAs), Henry Delf-Rowlanson (13CJo), Jamie Ganley (13CJo), Amina Kamaluddin (13THa), Ben Loughran (13DHa), David Marlow (13CJo), Ciaran O'Shea (13CJo), Rebecca Ralph (13THa), Matt Sinclair (13DHa), Joe Toward (13HAs), Sam Tute (13BLo), Harry Young (13CJo).
A special mention should go to Henry Delf-Rowlandson, Ciaran O'Shea and Rebecca Ralph, who all achieved merit certificates, and will be entered for the first round to select the British team for the International Physics Olympiad, held in 2014 in Kazakhstan.
